# Farming & Homestead

**Grow the field, grow your future.** Build a productive farming routine, learn crop growth mechanics, take care of livestock and gradually open more land for cultivation.

{% hint style="info" %}
**CORE FARM LOOP:** Prepare soil → Plant a seed → Water when needed → Wait for maturity → Harvest → Repeat. A mature crop must have **fresh water** to be harvested.
{% endhint %}

## What Can You Grow?

| Crop Family | Growth Time (Default) | Farming Purpose |
| -------------------------- | --------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| **Turnip, Tomato, Potato** | 1 growth day | Faster crops for farming cycles |
| **Corn, Cabbage**          | 2 growth days         | Mid-duration crop rotation      |
| **Watermelon**             | 3 growth days         | Longer growth cycle             |

Each crop growth day normally takes **24 real-world hours**. Water must be fresh at harvest time; the in-game day/night visual cycle does not determine crop maturity.

## Expand Your Land

| Farm Level | Available Cultivation Area |
| ---------- | :------------------------: |
| 1–4        |            6 × 6           |
| 5–9        |            8 × 8           |
| 10–14      |           10 × 10          |
| 15–19      |           12 × 12          |
| 20–24      |           14 × 14          |
| 25+        |           16 × 16          |

## Resources and Rewards

* **Harvesting** gives crop items plus fixed **Player EXP and Farm EXP** per eligible tile.
* **Planting and harvesting** can award **Vale Vouchers** while the Farming allocation remains available.
* **Selling produce** is a separate activity; a harvest does not automatically produce Gold.
* **USDG Harvest Reward** figures currently shown in game are **Coming Soon previews**, not active USDG transfers.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Know before you plant:** Different actions consume Energy and Stamina. The full Farming guide lists the authoritative tool costs, watering requirements, and troubleshooting steps.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://harvest-vale.gitbook.io/harvest-vale-docs/farming-and-homestead.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
